Welcome CSI
Toledo, the Toledo, Ohio Chapter of the
Construction Specifications Institute.
The members of the organization comprise a cross
section of individuals involved in creating and
sustaining the built environment. Currently our
Chapter’s membership includes approximately
35 individuals who work for companies involved
in architecture and engineering, construction,
manufacturing of construction-related products,
building management and the educational institutions
in northwest Ohio.
We exist “to advance the process of creating
and sustaining the built environment.” To
this chapter this means coming together to network
and to exchange information and ideas to help
us succeed in our chosen roles. We make use of
the work the organization has done and is doing
to develop a shared language that everyone involved
with the built environment can use to process,
interpret and communicate information. This includes
some exciting advancements in BIM (Building Information
Management) and Omniclass (Overall Construction
Classification System) which MasterFormat 2004
is a part.
This sounds highly technical and really “out
there”. You would be amazed at how much
you will understand after spending some time
with CSI Toledo. We currently offer two opportunities
to become involved with our organization each
month, CSI Morning
FEED and AWOL
4
Lunch.
The first is our interactive CSI
Morning FEED discussion group which
contemplates various topics that impact the
construction industry. Most of these are global
issues. We share perspectives and theorize on
where we are going or how we can develop a conscientious.
You can review synopsis
from selected CSI Morning Feed meetings.
The second is our AWOL
4 Lunch. This is a new meeting
series is designed to provide a learning opportunity
about issues which affect those involved in
the construction process on a regular basis.
Presenters with experience on the topic will
engage the audience for a dynamic discussion
without the use of PowerPoint. Group participation
is encouraged so that we may learn from each
other’s experiences and association in
the overall construction process.
Please download the schedules for both the
CSI Morning
FEED and AWOL
4 Lunch meetings, mark your calendar
and join us for a lively informative meeting.
The current Officers and I welcome your input,
encourage your participation and look forward
to meeting you at a future meeting.
